Are these symptoms of a failing GPU?

Randomly when switching between HDMI to pc my screen on my pc suddenly became very bright with a slight grey/smokey haze. Text is slightly difficult to read and the colors are somewhat off. The screen is somewhat intense to look at. I've tried messing with Nvidia's control panel adjusting brightness, hue, contrast etc but the screen still has a haze it doesn't look right when displaying images. I've also updated the driver. There is nothing wrong with the monitor because my ps3 looks fine on the display. The GPU is EVGA Nvidia 8800GTS 512mb. Its only a year or two old and hasn't been running or making noises though. I've only experienced one BSOD recently
