Why do Republicans say McCain suspended his campaign because he puts country first?

Why does he also say Obama wants to lose the war? Even General Patreas says he won't ever use the word victory to discribe the war in Iraq. First of all McCain never suspended his campaign. His ads were still running. His saragates were still holding rallies. He said he'd suspend his campaign and not have the debate until a deal was made. There is still no deal and he's still campaigning. He was at the debate. At the 45 minute meeting he and Obama attended at the white house, he sat silent almost the entire time while Obama was drilling the treasury secratary with questions and, when Obama asked McCain what he thought about the situation, he didn't have an answer. He was at his house all this weekend, making phone calls, watching from the sidelines, instead of getting on the hill to make this deal happen. This was a political ploy that blew up in McCain's face. He knew he was behind in the polls so, he pretended he wanted to help, even though people in his own party said, him and Obama coming back to Washington was a bad idea. Low and behold, once they got there, all the progress that they had made on a deal fell apart, because of the injection of presidencial campaign politics. Secondly, Obama doesn't want to loose a war, he just knows when to cut your losses. We'll be there forever if we're waiting for stablity in Iraq. We should've never been in Iraq in the first place. All we did was help Iran and Al Qaeda, by getting rid of Saddam. There wasn't any Al Qaeda in Iraq while Saddam was in power. He saw them as opposistion to his power and had them all kicked out. Now, with Saddam gone, it's a breeding ground for Al Qaeda and, now Iran's mortal enemy is no more. We should've stayed in Afghanistan, where we belonged. And if McCain really believed in country first, he'd have picked a more qualified running mate. He would've never picked a man with her resume and a BA in communications/journalism. He picked her to try for the disguntled Hillary voters and the blue collar vote, that's the bottom line
