How to take baby's handprint?

There's a section in my baby book where you can put your baby's footprint and handprint. It didn't come with any type of ink or paint, so I bought non-toxic tempra paint and plan on doing it soon, as my baby is already four months. Have any of you out there done this? Do you have any tips to share?
